Abstract

To summarize the published data on the principle of the human endbrain arrangement in order to determine the prospects of its further study. It was found, that the mantle section of the cerebral hemispheres contains several formations. The ancient mantle (archipallium) and the old mantle (paleopallium) in their functional community are regarded as the limbic brain that forms the material basis of instinctive (unconscious) behavior and the unconscious mental activity while the material basis of conscious (rational) sphere of mental activity is the new mantle (neopallium). Interhemispheric corticocortical communication in this area is carried out through the corpus callosum, which is thereby the commissure of the new mantle.
