Дослідження було проведено з метою встановлення недостатньо вивчених регіональних відмінностей потреби у Паліативній і Хоспісній Допомозі (ПХД) в Україні та статистичної перевірки зв'язку між параметрами якості життя, рівнем болю та якістю знеболення паліативних пацієнтів онкологічного та неврологічного профілів лікування. Були використані медико-статистичний (зокрема рангова кореляція Спірмена), соціологічний (зокрема анкета SF-36 опитування щодо якості життя) та порівняльний методи. Потреба у ПХД у всіх регіонах України коливалась в межах 1 % кількості населення. Регіональний вплив не був виявлений. Для медико-соціального дослідження з когорти 171 у складі пацієнтів харківського хоспіса були сформовані костомізовані групи неврологічного (50 пацієнтів) та онкологічного (50 пацієнтів) профілів лікування. Були виявлені достовірні (p<0,05) прямі корелятивні зв’язки між показниками загального здоров’я та життєздатності пацієнтів неврологічного профілю лікування (r=0,316), та між показниками фізичного функціонування та суб’єктивною оцінкою результатів лікування протягом 3–4 тижнів пацієнтів онкологічного профілю (зменшенням проявів ракової інтоксикації та недостатності органів та систем; r=0,332). Отримані результати підтвердили коректність модифікації опитувальника SF-36 на попередніх етапах дослідження. Був визначений достовірний (p<0,05) помірний зворотній зв'язок (r=-0,613) між задоволеністю лікуванням та рівнем болю у групі хворих неврологічного профілю лікування; та достовірний сильний зворотній зв'язок (r=-0,713) між задоволеністю лікуванням та рівнем болю у групі хворих онкологічного профілю лікування. Правильність призначенні знеболювальних була низькою навіть при стаціонарному лікуванні у хоспісі, і складала 78 % та 84 % відповідно.
